Kata Rocks, Phuket

Phuket definitely has a reputation of being the party place of Thailand but it actually has some of the most relaxing places to spend your days. If you’re looking to live the life of luxury while enjoying yourself in Phuket then you definitely have to stop by Kata Rocks resort!

Kata Beach is a picture perfect small town that sits at the bottom of Phuket and houses some of the islands top resorts. Kata Rocks Resort is fairly new opening in 2014, with many award ranking services already in the books! The resort consists of villas averaging at $700 a night! The setting is modern chic with clean white style settings everywhere. The pool overlooks the side of Kata Noi Beach which gives you all the views you could ever dream of! The rocks on which the resort are built are known as the Buddha Footprint and are considered to be sacred.

I found out about Kata Rocks through Trip Advisor and decided to make a reservation the day before for lunch! As I arrived along the road the taxi brought me along to the top of the hill. I checked into the lobby stating I had reservations to the restaurant ( the security was very on top of things here!) A golf cart appeared and escorted me to the top of the hill where the restaurant was. When I sat down for lunch I was greeted by the entire staff and got to talking to one of the hotel managers. She offered for me to have access to a pool day at the resort and I couldn’t resist!

For most, a pool day the resort consists of pool, restaurant and spa access for about $110 per day. This money can be spent towards food, drinks, and spa services which is amazing! You will definitely be getting your money’s worth especially if you book a massage and eat! I was amazed with how quiet this resort was. For most of the day I was the only person by the pool! It felt as if I had the whole resort to myself. There were endless activities to partake in at the resort; yoga, pool, dinner, the spa, day reading, snacking and of course those pool side drinks!

The Restaurant

The dining atmosphere was absolutely beautiful overlooking the infinity pool area and Kata Noi Beach. The prices average from $10-$60 per dish offering primarily Mediterranean dishes. You can even request to have in- villa dinners , or a romantic candlelit table for two at the edge of the beach. I opted for a smoked salmon with quinoa bowl,  a Pina colada, and mashed potatoes (was craving them!) The food was ah-mazing!

The Spa

Offering many different treatments such as resting pods, chromotherapy chambers, Benessere water massage beds, and Thai treatments. This was an award winning spa, and from the service and my experience I can tell why! I got a chromotherapy chamber treatment and a manicure. The manicure basically came with my package, if not I wouldn’t suggest it as it was not the best and was $35 (but I’m used to my Long Island manicures!) The chromotherapy treatment was very relaxing lasting a half hour. Different color lighting went off and music played in the background to relax your senses. My only regret about the spa is I wish I would have opted for a massage instead!

The Sunset

One word. Unreal. It’s no wonder why the restaurant is so popular and over booked for their sunset dinners. The view here is magnificent, and the sunset colors look like a pale pink and blue cotton candy sky!

I highly recommend Kata Rocks Resort to anyone spending time in Phuket. Whether it’s getting a massage, eating at the restaurant or full on staying at the resort your experience will be amazing!
